It's a good idea to identify ValueTypes early on. They can be organised in a top-level 'value' Package (or Model package) or owned by other Packages or even by Blocks:

The ValueType and Unit names in the ISO-80000 ModelLibrary are rather verbose. It's easy to create your own equivalents with concise naming and Unit indications.
TIP: Where possible create custom Units with the name the same as the symbol

[NAMING, TOOL] MagicDraw/Cameo: SysMLv1.x: ValueType naming: The ISO-80000 libraries use 'lower case' (sometimes with spaces for compound units and/or with [scaling] indicated in square brackets).
[ASSERTION, MODELLING, PATTERN]{STRONG} Webel: SysML: Heard of "follow the money"? In MBSE we "follow the flows"! Identify requests, data packets, messages, signals early on and use ItemFlow as often as you can wherever you can! Adopt a signal processing mindset throughout (systems thinking).
